Taos Onstage is holding auditions for the play Men on Boats by Jaclyn Backhaus, featuring an all-female cast. Spinning historical, theatrical, and gender conventions on their heads, this subversive tale of 10 men, four boats, and two rivers contains none of the above. Men on Boats is the true(ish) history of an 1869 expedition, when a one-armed captain and a crew of insane yet loyal volunteers set out to chart the course of the Colorado River.

Parts are available for 10 female, female-identifying, trans-identifying, gender-fluid, and/or gender-nonconforming actors.

Open auditions will be held on Monday, Feb. 25 at 6:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Taos Onstage Theatre, 101-A Camino de la Placita, Taos, NM 87571 (at the corner of Paseo del Pueblo Sur next to the Tuesday Morning store).

Performance dates are April 25-28 and May 2-5.
